What to do with left over hotel amenities?

Being a frequent traveler or one who loves luxury experiences, you know that staying in a fancy hotel is one of the greatest pleasures in life. It’s because you can pamper yourself and relax a little. Shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and soaps are among the most common hotel luxuries. It can be the case even when you are traveling on a budget. Some 3 or 4 stars also offer hotel amenities.

Most of you may be familiar with this habit of saving toiletries for later use. Sometimes it’s because your trip is so short that you did not get the chance to use them. Or because you already had travel toiletries that you got from home for the journey.

Unfortunately, most of the hotel amenities that we stuff in our bags go to unused spaces. Either in our bathroom cabinet or somewhere in our room. The only use they have in the end is collecting dust and getting expired after years of neglect.

Now, you must be wondering what the best way to use these leftover hotel amenities is? Here are a few ideas for what you can do with all those unwanted hotel toiletries you don’t want to keep in the bathroom. It will help you put them to use rather than leaving them to pile up.

PUT THEM TO USE

It may sound familiar, but how many times have you looked at your unused hotel toiletries and told yourself, “I’ll use them later?” So stop doing it right now.

Instead of keeping them away for a rainy day or when your shampoo and conditioner run out, use them right away. For example, you can put them in the shower to remind you that they’re there to use.

GIVE THEM TO A CHARITY

Suppose you have a lot of new hotels leftover amenities and aren’t sure what to do with them. Consider giving them away to a charity or homeless shelter.

Many organizations would love the donation. These will then be given to those in need. But, make sure that you are only donating unopened and unused bottles.

Besides your hotel toiletries, you can also donate other personal hygiene goods. Like full-sized toiletries. Items that we take for granted but that others cannot afford.

USE THEM IN YOUR GUEST BATHROOM

Maybe you are using a specific product because of skin allergies or a personal preference for a particular brand. If this is the case, you may not use the hotel toiletries, but your guests may.

Small travel-sized toiletries are ideal for a weekend visit from a friend or relative.

You can set out various products and scents to choose from, especially if you have different varieties of hotel leftovers. It will give your guests an actual hotel or BnB feel.

KEEP FOR LATER TRAVEL

When purchased in a store, travel-sized toiletries can cost the same as a regular-sized bottle of shampoo.

Also, when you use refillable travel bottles, you have to deal with bottles that can leak if not secured.

Because you already paid for these toiletries, pack and use them. You will save money, and it will be more convenient than carrying your own.

USE THEM IN THE GYM

Because of their small size, these toiletries are also handy for showering at the gym. This way, you will not have to carry those bulky shampoo and conditioner bottles to the gym every day. Instead, use one sample size and discard away.

REUSE THEM IN YOUR TRAVEL TOILETRY BAG

Some hotel leftovers can be used for purposes other than what they are designed for.

Shower caps can be helpful to wrap your shoes before putting them in your bag to keep dirt and mud off. It also helps to keep the shoe mud off your clothes.

Because nothing is worse than getting your shirt out to discover it became stained during travel. And that you must now go to the store to buy a replacement shirt before the critical meeting.

REUSE THE SHOWER CAPS

Disposable shower caps are great for one-time use, but they get flimsy too quickly. Wrapping them around your shoes before packing them into your suitcase is a great way to reuse them.

You might as well use shower caps as a wet bag to keep your used undergarments. Options are plenty.

DECORATE THE SOAPS ON DISPLAY

It’s not uncommon for hotels to give individually wrapped hand soaps to their visitors. Sometimes, there are two or three bars of soap ready to be used

If you have a collection of unused soaps that smell great, buy a stylish glass jar and put them inside. It can serve as a lovely decorative piece to have in your bathroom.

GIVE THEM TO FRIENDS OR FAMILY

If you can’t think of what to do with the leftover hotel amenities, ask your friends or family if they need them. For example, they might be traveling soon or would love to enjoy the luxuries of deluxe size samples. In any way, they will love using it and will thank you for it.
